MALESSO’

REVITALIZATION PLAN

FOCUS GROUP SESSION

AIA Marianas partnering with the Guam Preservation Trust to create the next iteration of revitalization plans. This year, we’re working with the residents and leadership in the vibrant and historic village of Malesso’ and kicked off the effort with a Focus Group Session held at the Malesso’ Gym.

The Revitalization Plans are a series of community integrated plans developed with the goal of revitalizing Guam’s most historic villages, preserving its rich heritage and honing in on its sense of place. Malesso’ is just the third iteration of our combined efforts, following the Humatak Revitalization Plan in 2013 and the Inalajan Revitalization Plan in 2019.

Led by members of AIA Marianas, along with Joe Quinata of the Guam Preservation Trust, we held an open discussion to allow stakeholders to express their ideas and ways that we can held improve the village they call home. AIA Marianas will take the information received and use it as a basis of design to create reports, site plans, infographics and architectural drawings that the village leaders can use to make improvements that align with the needs of their people, the recommendations of design professionals and the insight from Guam’s preservation efforts.

We thank the community for graciously welcoming and hosting our Focus Group Session and also thank our friends over at the Guam Preservation Trust.
