joint holiday mixer
Each year, members of Guam’s Architecture and Engineering professional organizations get together to plan and host the Joint Holiday Mixer. It’s a night of camaraderie, laughter and some healthy competition between members of the American Institute of Architects, Marianas Chapter, the American Water Works Association, the Guam Society of Professional Engineers and the Society of American Military Engineers, Guam Post. In keeping with tradition, the entrance fee is a canned good donation and all proceeds and goods generated through the events raffle are donated to the Ministry to the Homeless to help with their efforts to feed those in need. We thank the planning committee for putting the event together and for all the local businesses and companies who donate to make for a great event,
aia marianas’ ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP
Each year, the Scholarship Committee within AIA Marianas puts out a call for local applicants pursuing college degrees in architecture. Eligible applicants are individuals with ties to the Marianas who are currently enrolled in Architecture programs at NAAB accredited schools. The annual scholarship program works to actively invest in the Marianas’ next generation of architects.
national architecture week
school presentations
Architecture Week is a nationwide celebration recognizing the power of good design, with a goal of inspiring the next generation of architects and designers. Last April, the outreach committee reached out to dozens of schools in Guam and Saipan and received an overwhelming amount of interest. Several of our members gave presentations to over a hundred K-12 students, educating them on architecture and how they can become the next batch of architects.
national association of women in construction
block kids building competition
Our friends over at the National Association for Women in Construction sent out a call for architects interested in judging this year’s Block Kids Building Competition. Elementary school kids gathered to put their creative minds to work and create their masterpieces out of lego blocks, string, and a some foil. Several members of AIA Marianas answered the call to judge and witnessed great creations from Guam’s next generation.
