AIA Marianas is pleased to continue our annual Art Contest which invites Guam students K-12 to come up with creative and innovating artwork for all to see. This year’s World Architecture Day theme is “Design for Strength”, calling upon the resilient, adaptive and sustainable qualities of architecture and design that we all aspire towards. We invited the students to design a community center, park and recycled playground that responds to this year’s theme and provides sustainable solutions. We were thrilled to receive 76 pieces of artwork across GDOE, public, charter and home school networks.

Our judges deliberated and were able to select 9 winners of all the entries. Each of the winners were awarded during our Opening Ceremony held at the Agana Shopping Center. Additionally, all of the artwork was on display at our exhibit from November 16st to the 21st. We were happy to meet all of these talented artists and excited for the public to see everyone’s work on display. We’d like to thank our sponsors: the Agana Shopping Center, Infusion and The American Institute of Architects College of Fellows. We hope to continue this event next year as we work to expand the reach of architecture and to highlight the talent we have here at home.
